Patriot Brief

  • What Happened: Meta announced Dina Powell McCormick as its new president and vice chairman of the board.

  • Why It Matters: Powell McCormick is a former Trump administration national security official with deep experience in global finance and policy.

  • Bottom Line: Meta is signaling a shift toward experienced, establishment leadership with strong ties to the Trump era.

Big Tech just made a move that has the left quietly nervous.

Meta announced Monday that Dina Powell McCormick has been named president and vice chairman of the board, elevating a veteran of the Trump administration to one of the most powerful roles inside one of the world’s most influential companies.

Powell McCormick served as deputy national security adviser to President Donald Trump during his first term. She is also a longtime Washington insider, having worked in the George W. Bush administration under former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, according to CNBC.

She is married to Republican Sen. Dave McCormick of Pennsylvania, adding another political layer to a move that is already raising eyebrows across Washington and Silicon Valley.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg praised her credentials in a statement, saying her experience at the highest levels of global finance and her international relationships make her uniquely suited to help guide Meta through its next phase of growth.

President Trump celebrated the appointment on Truth Social, calling it a “great choice” and praising Powell McCormick as “a fantastic, and very talented, person” who served his administration “with strength and distinction.”

CNBC reported that Powell McCormick joined Meta’s board of directors in April but resigned in December ahead of her promotion. During her time on the board, Meta said she was deeply involved in the company’s work on artificial intelligence, a rapidly expanding area that will shape the future of technology, speech, and global influence.

The message here is hard to miss. Meta is not doubling down on woke slogans or activist politics. It is bringing in a serious operator with national security experience and strong ties to the Trump era.

After years of Big Tech lecturing America, this looks like a quiet shift toward realism, stability, and leadership that understands power. And judging by Trump’s enthusiastic response, this appointment did not go unnoticed.
